My paintings are created from elements of different locations that are not necessarily specific to time or place. I’m interested in exploring how colour and light affect our mood - and use landscapes as a vehicle. Although some works have a name in the title, they are less to do with the literal and more concerned with the underlying sense of a place.
My influences range from Wolf Kahn and David Hockney to contemporary Mallorcan artists. My own approach is to build up layers of sometimes clashing colour, using a variety of brush and palette knife strokes. I have a BA honours degree in Art and English from Oxford Polytechnic (Oxford Brookes University) and studied for an MA in Art History at the University of Reading. I'm based in London, and work as both a journalist for the London Evening Standard and as an artist. Although my training is in art and I have painted all my life, it is only in the last two to three years that I have chosen to pursue it professionally. I've sold paintings to clients across the UK and internationally.
