While You Read Poetry

Anyone who has travelled or holidayed in the UK recently will have encountered the amazing displays of wildflowers – the result of environmental projects – along roadside verges or open meadows. The dramatic effect of bold colour splashed across the landscape has inspired this small collection of abstract pieces.

In these artworks, I've taken the poppy field as a starting point and explored using blocks of red in abstract form. The pieces have been created intuitively, each emerging through a process that includes many separate layers, which feature a number of different media including collage. This has given the works a depth and individuality that is truly unique. They are presented in white, wooden floater frames.
