An earlier work in an ongoing investigation into trace, residue and the absorption of meaning. Beneath layers of aqua, blue and grey, collaged cuttings from the London Evening Standard — stories written and edited during Brett's years as a journalist — are gradually defused by the painted surface. The urgency of the headlines is absorbed into atmosphere, the language of news dissolving into the quiet instability of landscape. What remains is neither document nor depiction — something between the two.
